Birthdays are the best days

As I get older, people often tell me that birthdays get less exciting. It's true--turning 24 isn't quite as thrilling as 21. But despite my reluctance to grow older, I still love my birthday!

Everyone is entitled to one day a year that is all about them. One Day. So, why not live it up?!

This year, I rang in my 24th year in ATL with my favorite people. Did I mention it was Friday the 13th? AND a full moon!

The first celebration started Tuesday evening--dinner and treats with my two sweeties, Steph & Jules.

Wednesday night, Taylor and I kept the excitement going with dinner at my favorite restaurant, El Taco.

Thursday was my work celebration, and I was really feeling the love! What amazing coworkers I have!

Late Thursday, the Taylors arrived to help me celebrate!

Friday, we all had an amazing tapas lunch at Basil's, and I, of course, toasted myself with a glass (or a couple glasses) of Prosecco.

Next, it was time to watch the Braves stomp the Angels at Turner Field. Just a side note, the Braves have never lost while I was present. I think I'm somewhere around 8-and-0. And that's saying something!

Although my birthday had passed, the celebrations continued Saturday at the Brookhaven Beer Festival. It was hotter than you know what, but we quickly forgot about the heat and focused on all the delicious brews!

We finished up the day with tacos & ritas at Verde.

Sundays are typically reserved for recovery, but there was no time for that. What a coincidence that my favorite play (turned movie) of all time, Steel Magnolias, was playing at Onstage Atlanta in Decatur! It's no secret that I live by the story line from this incredible Southern drama, released the year before I was even born. And even though I'd seen it twice before, the play was amazing!

Laughter through tears always was my favorite emotion!

And so my week-long birthday celebration was over. I was sad to see my friends and family go, but I'm excited to see what lies ahead for my 24th year.

Sunshine > Moonshine: MDW 2014

I know, I know, I haven't blogged in WAY too long! The truth is, nothing overly blog-worthy has been happening the past couple months.
Being a working mom is tough, and it consumes most all of my time!

But Summer is finally here, and with it comes weekends spent outdoors enjoying this gorgeous Southern weather!

A couple weeks ago, Taylor, Langston and I drove over to Lake Wateree in beautiful Camden, SC (yes, there's more to do there than stumble around a horserace searching for free Lilly koozies) for year number two of Memorial Day festivities with our fave fellow Gamecock couple, Alli & Chris.

The weekend involved lots of firsts for Mr. Langston--first dip in a large body of water, first sunburn, first boat trip and most importantly, first time meeting Ms. Hadley!

I have to say that out of all the pups Langston has met, I think he might have liked Haddie girl the best!
Not so sure if the feelings are mutual though....

Perhaps the best part of the trip was our time spent on the enormous party raft. We dropped an anchor, loaded up the floating cooler and soaked up lots of warm South Carolina sunshine!

The second best part of the trip (in my opinion) was nights spent playing Heads Up. If you haven't played this game, I highly recommend it. While it's best played with cocktails, I'm sure it would be quite entertaining sober as well. You've probably seen this game on Ellen, where it was made popular this year. Download the app on your iPhone at your next get-together. You won't regret it!

And PS, it's so much more fun than playing Shanghai for two hours....just sayin'!

And sticking with tradition, we used moonshine as a form of punishment for the losers.

Somethings will never change with this group!

Sayin' bye to Winter with No "Egrets"

Long time, no blog. Number one reason:

As I have already announced, I am now a proud mommy to a 3 1/2 month old Parson Russell Terrier puppy.

Langston has me VERY busy these days, but I can't imagine life without him!

A few highlights since the last entry:

The Kings of Leon concert.

Had so much fun catching up with my favorite sassy lady, and the concert was amazing!

A surprise trip to Charlotte for Julie's 25th!

A weekend visit from Mom & Scott, complete with beer tastings and a picnic.

An afternoon with the Harlem Globetrotters and my Dad!

And finally, a MUCH-needed Adult Spring Break trip to Florida with all the Taylor's. (Shawn, David and Mr. Dove)

Don Pedro Island, located south of Tampa, was the perfect place to get away. In order to reach our new favorite piece of paradise, we took a quick ferry ride over and were greeted immediately with an example of the island's quaint, yet humorous, nature.

While the majority of the trip was spent tanning, eating and drinking, we also enjoyed bike rides, morning runs (for Shawn & David), sunset viewings and golf cart adventures.

Perhaps my most favorite part of the trip: collecting shells. Despite my family's incessant ridicule and jokes about me turning into an 80-year-old woman, I couldn't believe how beautiful and unique all the shells were!

Now everyone knows what they'll be getting for Christmas ;)

Another highlight of the trip was the daily pics we received of Langston playing with his cousin Owen and Aunt Addy.

We were all sad to leave the island, but spring has sprung in the ATL and as I look back at the atrocious Winter and even our Adult Spring Break, I have to say, I have "no egrets."
